Canyon Group® products are made from the finest chenille, which we make in our own production facility in Dalton, Georgia. Each chenille item is then cut, sewn, hand-marked, and tufted by our talented design team. All Canyon Group® products are made entirely in the USA!

Designed to be Unique
Regrettably, many fabrics that are labeled as chenille are, in fact, not true chenille. Genuine chenille is made by tufting fluffy yarn onto a backing material using hundreds of needles side by side. This process, known as “Tufting,” creates a fabric with a soft and fluffy front side and parallel rows of yarn stitches on the back. These rows are what give chenille its name, derived from the French word for caterpillar, symbolizing the rows of yarn seen from the back. A lack of tufted yarn rows indicates that the fabric is not authentic chenille. You can describe chenille fabric in a way like velvet or fur made from cotton.
While the tufting process for chenille can be slow and laborious, many manufacturers choose to neglect it while still using the chenille name. Nowadays, the term “chenille” is widely used to describe any fluffy fabric, regardless of its composition or production process. However, our company, Canyon Group®, remains the only manufacturer of true chenille in North America.
